Campaign to protect the last two elephants in the Sinharaja World Heritage Site

When the government of Sri Lanka took a decision to remove the last two elephants in the Sinharaja World Heritage Site, we wrote to UNESCO asking to influence the government to stop the implementation of such decision. We highlighted the important ecological role of the elephants to protect the rainforest and to maintain a well-balanced ecosystem. The attempt was successful and the last two elephants now remain in the Sinharaja World Heritage Site.

Several campaigns to stop environmental destruction

Tendril Foundation has involved in several campaigns together with communities to protect forests, mountains and rivers especially in Galle District. Making people aware of the consequences of environmental destruction and sending public petitions to authorities are the major strategies we use to stop environmental destruction.
