Nature-based agriculture programme

The rapid expansion of monoculture has resulted in a reduction of biodiversity and agro-biodiversity. Increase of rural poverty, lack of food security and high levels of malnutrition are the other issues related to monoculture. The Foundation encourages and guides communities to practice nature-based agricultural methods aiming at sustainability. We coordinate the institutions at the national level and provide education and training to local farmers on nature-based agriculture. The Foundation supports them to find markets to sell their products. We expect to provide a space in our conservation centre to establish a community boutique aiming at selling the products of the local farmers. The Foundation too maintains a model nature-based agricultural site in Baddegama, Sri Lanka.
